We target Salmon (Chinook, Coho and Atlantic), Trout (Lake, Rainbow/Steelhead, Brown) and Walleye.
Weights will vary based on the time of season ranging from 2 to 30+ lbs. On Lake Ontario the famed tyee is what we are searching for!
We can accommodate up to 3 people total (of adults or children combined) maximum on the boat. It gives everyone a bit of space, and gives us room to deal with the ensuing fun!
We do fish in the rain, and we are able to keep protected from the elements in our covered cockpit (bimini top/enclosure curtains). Weather the night before will be discussed with the captain so you can dress appropriately. The Legend X20 is very safe and built to handle the weather with state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipment. Your captain has over 40 years experience boating in all weather conditions including the most rugged areas of the Pacific Coast and Interior Lakes. We do constantly monitor the weather before and during your trip checking radar and weather forecasts and monitoring VHF radio weather alerts.
Every person between the ages of 18 and 65 requires a fishing licence as per the province of Ontario. You will need to purchase your license prior to launch and have it on you. There are some exceptions listed on the Ministry Website. For example, fishing-free days or Family weekends. Licenses can be purchased online at www://huntandfishontario.com.
Yes, depending on the type of license (Sportfish or Conservation) you choose will determine how many fish you are legally allowed to keep at the end of the day. For those not required to have a license because of age or other exception, Sportfish Limits Apply
We usually have over 12 rods on board and use many different techniques based on conditions and time of year. We are also in contact with other captains for fishing reports and out as often as the weather allows.
Some days are slower than others, but we do everything we can to ensure you remain on the fish. We wont promise anything we can’t 100% deliver on. It’s called fishing. If it wasn‘t it would be called catching!
Yes, we are fully insured for commercial operations and registered through Transport Canada in the Canadian Small Vessel Registry. The Legend X20 is fully equipped in accordance with Transport Canada requirements. We are also fully licensed with a Small Vessel Operators Permit, the Small Vessel Domestic - Basic Safety course, the Maritime Radio Operators Certificate, and Marine Basic First Aid.
It is against the law to consume alcohol while on our vessel. We also do not allow the use of any tobacco or other smoking products such as cannabis. Our policy on this matter is a zero tolerance policy for our safety and yours.
First and foremost waves can affect everyone differently so there’s no easy answer to this. We recommend Gravol the night before if you have motion sickness issues. The natural ginger type has had good results for most people. The other thing people can do is use anti-nausea bands that go on each wrist. How you choose to deal with potential symptoms is at your discretion.
If you happen to become sea-sick while on a charter, it is up to you if you would like to return to the launch. We will gladly take you back to shore however we cannot offer any refunds for having to return to the launch early.
The only exception to cancellation while on the water is if the Captain makes the decision to cancel based on weather. The remaining time will be re-booked at a time based on mutual agreement.
If parents feel that their children are ready and will get enjoyment from the trip, then yes. It is Lake Ontario so please ensure you bring an appropriately sized and Transport Canada approved PFD for your child as we may not have correct sizing based for your child.
At a minimum, anyone over the age of 10 will be accepted, and younger ages at the discretion of the captain in consultation with the parents.
You booked the trip, so the boat is yours for the trip and yours alone.. If you choose to bring other people up to the maximum Limit of 3 People total (Adults or Children) that is entirely at your call.
Morning and full-day charters typically start between 5-6 am, and afternoon or evening charters begin between 3-4 pm, depending on the time of year. Show time will be re-confirmed with the captain with the weather call the day before.
Cancellations with 7 days or more notice can rebook to another date or receive a full refund less 25% service charge.
Cancellations with less than 7 days' notice but more than 24 hours' notice will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations made within 24 hours or less, as well as “no-shows” are non-refundable.
Cancellations made by the captain due to weather are fully refundable or credited for a future booking. All weather cancellations are at the sole discretion of the captain. Any cancellations while on the water due to weather will be re-booked at a mutually agreed upon date for a length of time equal to the remaining time in the current charter at the time of the weather cancellation.
